OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) - The Owensboro Community and Technical College has now filed a police report on the missing portable computer drive containing the personal information of some three thousand students.

Owensboro Police say they are assigning a detective to the possible theft.

Names, social security numbers, and employee and student i-d numbers were on the computer drive that's been missing for a week.

College officials say it's unlikely whoever has the computer drive knows what's on it.

"There's some smart people out there that know how to do it, next thing you know there might be somebody with my credit card," student Kimberly Clark said.

OCTC sent letters to all the students and staff affected by the stolen information.
