Three local businesses open USPS kiosks

VANDERBURGH CO., IN (WFIE) - Store managers, along with representatives from the U.S. Post Office officially opened three new contract post office units on Thursday.

E.l. Walters Air Conditioning, Seek and Find Consignments, and Huck's Gas Station on north Green River Road are all now operating new "mini" post offices.

The stores paid for the postal kiosk, while the post office supplied the materials and the training for employees.

Evansville Postmaster Darla Woodall said, "This will be a great spot and we provide almost all the services that anyone would need."

Huck's CEO Todd Jenney said, "We feel like this is a great opportunity for our business and helping our customers save a trip."

Many of these locations are open later than the post office, and Huck's said they may even consider keeping their post office open on Sundays.

For now, the public can enjoy dropping off their mail, getting stamps, and weighing packages with longer hours and closer to home. Most of these locations keep the post office open during their normal business hours.

Huck's post office is open Monday through Friday from 6AM to 10PM, and on Saturday from 9AM to 1PM.

Woodall says USPS hopes to open more "mini" post offices at other locations. Huck's tells us 43 other stores have been approved.
