KENOSHA, WI (NBC) - Relatives of a murdered Wisconsin man say they're being pressured to pay their dead son's rent.
Colin Byars died in February following a beating outside a Kenosha bar.
Now, his mother says the landlord is asking for more than $2,000 to cover two months' rent, late fees, and breaking the lease.
Byars' mother, Danielle Eckert, said, "I said, 'How is he supposed to send a 30 days' notice, when he didn't even know he was going to get killed?'"
Rental company officials would not comment, and the victim's mother has contacted their corporate attorney.
