EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - An electronics retailer is coming to Evansville.
HH Gregg is taking over an east side location and looking for a local work force.
The renovations have already begun.
Workers said they have to have the building ready for an August opening.
It's out with the old and in with the new at the former Circuit City store on Evansville's east side.
Monday, a crew from Indianapolis began removing the old sign, and will soon replace it with a new one.
"We think there's a lot of potential," Jeff Pearson, VP of marketing said. "There's a lot of consumers in Evansville that know of HH Gregg, and we think we have the opportunity to do well there."
Currently, HH Gregg has 111 stores in nine states, and is Hoosier-based with its headquarters in Indianapolis.
This is not the first Circuit City location HH Gregg has moved into, but it is one of the largest.
The Evansville store is 39,000 square feet, much larger than the company's typical store.
Pearson said between 40 to 50 employees will be hired.
At least one management position was found advertised on careerbuilder.com.
Pearson said the company will begin looking for its sales staff sometime in July.
The company said it's unlike any other appliance and electronics store in America. That's because customers are able to negotiate prices with the sales staff.
Store officials said that's one of the reasons for the company's growth.
Construction crews are scheduled to have the store renovated by August 5, authorities said.
The next day, employees will begin stocking the merchandise.
A soft opening is scheduled for that same week with the grand opening scheduled for August 27.
Workers on site said even though this is a large store, they are on target to meet that opening date.
