OAKLAND CITY, IN (WFIE) - The Indiana Fire Marshall's Office is in Gibson County Monday, investigating a weekend fire at a historic home.

Our media partner The Princeton Daily Clarion reports the fire at the corner of Lincoln and Washington Streets in Oakland City started about 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

Firefighters are calling the blaze suspicious because there were no utilities connected. Nobody was hurt.

Neighbors say the home was built in 1898 by the Ingle family, who opened several coal mines in the area. They also say when it was first built, the home was quite the showplace, featuring more than 35 rooms.
