WHITE COUNTY, IL (WFIE) - The White County Sheriff's Office discovers a body while responding to a truck fire.

Deputies say they were called Sunday morning to County Road 1000E, just north of Burrell Park.

After crews put out the fire, a body was found in the passenger area of the truck. Crews say the fire appeared to start in the truck's engine.

The truck's owner, Nicholas Shelton of Enfield, was found at a Burrell Park campsite along with his girlfriend's small child.

Shelton told deputies his girlfriend, Kelly Jo Cain of Patoka, IL, had left the campsite earlier that morning, and his truck was missing.

After an autopsy on Sunday, the coroner could not positively identify the body. Dental records are being reviewed.

An investigation continues, but deputies say the death appears accidental.
