GRIFFIN, IN (WFIE) - The family of the Posey County man found dead in his driveway last week is asking for help from the public to solve the crime.
Authorities haven't released the name of the person found outside a home in Griffin, but family members said the victim is 57-year-old Pat Koester.
It happened in a remote area in Griffin.
Investigators don't believe there were many witness.
There haven't been any arrests yet either and that has neighbors terrified.
"It's kind of upsetting. There could have been a murderer driving past my home with my children playing in the front yard," a neighbor said.
The neighbor we spoke to wishes to remain anonymous.
She lives not far from where Indiana State Police are investigating the homicide.
According to reports, a friend of the victim found the body in the driveway on Campbell Road.
Investigators say the body was badly decomposed.
That is going to make it difficult to identify.
Coincidentally, this was the same home where, last summer, police responded to a meth bust and arrested two men.
Sergeant Todd Ringle with the Indiana State Police says the investigation will be difficult because the murder happened in such a remote area.
Any answers could be slow coming, police say they won't know the time of death for at least two weeks.
In the meantime, his neighbor fears what could be lurking around this normally quiet area.
"I have a 3-year-old that runs around and plays and I can't do that anymore," she said. "You know, someone hasn't been caught yet and who knows who it could be."
State police aren't saying if they have any suspects. The family is hoping someone will come forward.
Indiana State Police is encouraging anyone with information concerning this death to contact detectives at 1-800-852-3970 or 867-2079.
Anyone with information can remain anonymous.
