POSEY CO, IN (WFIE) - A 9-year-old boy is killed in an ATV accident in Posey County.
It happened just before 7:00 p.m. Wednesday on Maier Road, south of Mount Vernon.
According to the Posey County Sheriff's Office, the driver, Phillip Gross, lost control after hitting a dog.
Deputies say Gross and two passengers were thrown from the ATV, trapping Gross and the 9-year-old boy, Sullivan Coburn of Mt. Vernon, underneath.
Coburn was flown to St. Mary's where he died from his injuries.
An autopsy will be performed to determine a cause of death.
The other passenger, a 12-year-old girl, was injured.
The boy was taken by Life Flight to Saint Mary's. He died shortly after arriving.
Gross was also taken to St. Mary's for treatment.
The accident is under investigation.
