HOPKINS CO, KY (WFIE) - An Earlington man indicted for murder, has been bonded out of jail....by the town mayor.

The Madisonville Messenger reports 33-year-old John Hamilton was released from jail Friday after a $20,000 bond was posted by Earlington Mayor Mike Seiber.

Hamilton is charged with the murder of 18-year-old Julia Wooten.

Police say she was hit and killed by a car driven by Hamilton in early September.

Mayor Seiber tells the Messenger that Hamilton is lifelong friend and a very good person, and that what happened that night was a tragic accident.
