Strange Kentucky Laws

New Media Producer: Brad Maglinger

If you move to Kentucky you better be prepared to bathe, at least once a year. The law requiring annual baths is one of the rather strange ordinances that have been on books in Kentucky.

Another statue requires that a woman in a bathing suit on a highway be escorted by at least two officers or be armed with a club. The law was latter amended to exempt females weighing less than 90 pounds or more than 200.

The News-Enterprise of Elizabethtown reports a local ordinance required the sheriff to collect a dog tax or shoot the canine. But residents don't have to worry about Rover. Police Chief Ruben Gardner says there are a lot of ''crazy laws'' on the books that aren't enforced.
