Here's a follow up to last week's election.

There's still some unfinished business to be taken care of. On Monday night, the Vanderburgh County Commission approved an independent audit of the new touch screen machines, and how well they performed.

Commission President Catherine Fanello got the ball rolling on the audit last week, after hearing several complaints about machines breaking down. As part of the contract, the election equipment company will perform its own audit, but some say that's a bad idea.

Tammy Barnett wants an independent audit. "To us, for ES&S to audit themselves, would not truly be an audit. Vanderburgh County has spent so much money on this equipment, invested so much, that we think that the Commissioners owe it to the taxpayers to make sure this system has integrity."

Commissioners will now selecting a Democrat and a Republican to begin searching for an independent auditor. Commissioner David Mosby says the audit will turn into a recount of votes.
