Phony checks are being made on home computers and they keep showing up at stores around the Tri-state. Now, authorities believe they have broken-up the ring that's been printing and passing the bad checks.
Six arrests have been made and the suspects are all from Marion, Kentucky. Charges involve theft by deception over $300, theft by deception under $300, forgery in the second degree and engaging in organized crime. The suspects are all being held in the Morganfield jail. If convicted on all charges, each suspect could spend up to 15 or more years in prison.
Lt. Jeffery Hart says there are still thousands of dollars in checks circulating, which could lead to more charges.
