Emotional Support For Tornado Survivors

New Media Producer: Kerry Corum

The lives of many survivors of the November 6th tornado still remain on hold.

Many storm victims who have already received the initial basic essentials following the disaster, are now in need of a different kind of help. The Long Term Recovery Committee is working with the Southwestern Indiana Mental Health Center to provide continuing emotional support for victims.

Richard Paul says, "The people have more relationship problems, they have difficulty at work, they have difficulty concentrating and focusing. They may increase their substance use. A lot of things can kind of fold down as time goes on."

The groups are working together to provide continuing emotional support for victims. The Long Term Recovery Committee encompasses many other committees and agencies, like the Red Cross, that are still helping tornado victims.

If you're a victim of the tornado and you would like to attend a support group meeting, contact the Long Term Recovery Committee. You can reach them for any of your needs at (812) 490-6806.
