It was no illusion....disappointed fans lined up at the Centre's box office to get their money back.
Right after the 5:30 show had started with a video introduction, there was an announcement that stunned the crowd of 25-hundred..
Ticket holder Heather Madriaga says,
"We were a bit puzzled. You could have heard a pin drop in there because we didn't really know what to expect because we were 20 minutes into the show. So, when the lights came up, and you have this gentleman come out on the stage, we all kind of looked at each other puzzled and thought 'this is a joke, right?'"
Later, SMG, which manages the Centre, announced that David Copperfield's 8:30 performance was also cancelled.
John Bolton of SMG says it was due to a medical emergency by Mr. Copperfield.
Bolton says Copperfield was treated by a physician on site. He says hopefully Copperfield will re cooperate soon, and hopefully he can come back to Evansville soon.
David Copperfield's next tour stop is Panama City, Florida on Wednesday. It's not known if that performance will also be cancelled.
There's also no word tonight whether David Copperfield's Evansville performance is being rescheduled. We will keep you posted.
Previously: Both David Copperfield performances have been cancelled Monday night.
The performances were supposed to be at the Centre in downtown Evansville at 5:30 and 8:30.
The cancellations are due to a medical emergency with Copperfield, but SMG officials are not saying exactly what the emergency is.
If you had tickets to the performances, you can return them to the location they were purchased for a refund.
