Update: Car in house, naked man in Ohio River Tuesday

UPDATE, 1PM TUE: A release from the Henderson County Sheriff's Office in reference to the water rescue incident Tuesday morning says, in part:

"Deputy Warren Weiss went with Evansville Fire Boat to where ISP helicopter was marking where the man was located. When we arrived, the man stated that he was OK, and has been living there in his boat for eight months.

When asked about being naked, he said he was never naked. The man stated he was known as Peg Leg."

EARLIER: It could've been a rude awakening for the resident of an Evansville home Tuesday morning.

Luckily, the owner of the home on Jeanette Avenue on the Southeast side wasn't home when a car crashed into it. It happened at about 8:30am CST.

Authorities say the driver of the car was heading east on Jeanette when the car in front of it stopped suddenly. The driver of the car swerved into the house. No one was hurt.

A short time after that incident, several rescue crews are called out after troopers in a state police helicopter spot a man who appeared to be in distress in the Ohio River and naked.

It happened just after 9am CST across from Marina Pointe, when troopers were out checking the flood levels.

Authorities say the man eventually put his clothes on and held up a sign saying that he was okay. It's believed that he lives on a boat in the area.
