A scary afternoon for a 4-year-old Evansville child.
Evansville police were called out to the neighborhood Wal-Mart on Taylor Avenue after store employees noticed a 4-year-old girl wandering the store alone for more than 30 minutes.
When a parent still hadn't claimed the child after two hours, child protective services took her with them.
Hours later, the store was contacted by the child's mother who said she thought the child had gone with family members she'd run into while shopping at the store.
She found out that wasn't the case after contacting the family members to make arrangements to get the child home. Police say no charges are expected.
