Dump truck takes driver for a wild ride

New Media Producer: Nick Storm

A one truck accident left one Wayne County man uninjured but shaken up, Thursday afternoon.  Brian Ahser of Mt. Erie was driving a Kenworth tandem dump truck, when his brakes failed on Pounds Hollow Road near the intersection of Illinois 1, in Gallatin County.

Asher told police he was able to gear down enough to not run through the T-intersection, but still had to avoid traffic. Asher's dump truck rolled over just east of Illinois 1 and briefly had flames coming from it.

Asher was able to climb out of the overturned vehicle to safety. The Illinois State Police in Carmi is investigating the accident.
