For the ninth straight year, the Evansville-headquartered Atlas World Group moved more residents from Indiana than moved people into the Hoosier state. In their annual 2007 report released late last week, officials from Atlas World Group reveal only 13 states are considered "inbound," a term in which more people move into a state than leave it.
The report reflects migration patterns from more than 500 Atlas World Group agents throughout North America. In 2007, Atlas agents moved 1,980 residents out of Indiana and 1,329 to it from other areas on the continent.
Since 1998, the highest number of outbound residents from Indiana, the report indicates, was 2,919 in 2000. Since then, Indiana has averaged nearly 650 more residents exiting the state than moving into it.
The report shows Indiana is not the only Midwestern state experiencing a significant number of more outbound traffic than inbound residents. Wisconsin, and Michigan also have more outbound traffic while Ohio had the highest percentage of outbound traffic over inbound.
