VANDERBURGH CO, IN (WFIE) - A Newburgh man is arrested an felony battery and confinement charges.

Vanderburgh County Sheriff's deputies say 53-year-old David Brackett got into an argument with his girlfriend at Lakeshore Apartments Sunday.

Deputies say the victim was trying to break up with Brackett, but he got so angry, he beat her head against the couch and held a pillow over her face. The victim says she could not breath and at one point passed out.

The victim says Bracket told her, "You might die today."

Deputies say as the victim was trying to get away, Brackett pulled her back inside by her hair.

Deputies say after being punched in mouth, the victim got away.

Brackett admitted to detectives that he held the victim down and put a pillow over her face to prevent her from screaming, but he denies forcing her back inside.
