EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - An Evansville woman was arrested after, police said, they found her two young children living in "horrible conditions."
Heather Wade, 26, was taken into custody on child neglect charges after police received a call that Wade was living in unclean conditions with her two young children.
Police said the home on South Bedford was an unsafe environment for the children, who were found sleeping on soiled mattresses.
Officers said they also saw several roaches inside the home.
"The toilet was full of feces and urine," EPD Cpl. Steve Green said. "There was trash all over the house, food that had been rotting and decaying all over the house and the house was a total wreck."
Wade was taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail.
Wade's mother took custody of the children.
