WHITESVILLE, KY (WFIE) - The Owensboro Diocese is shocked and saddened after the rape arrest of a former school principal.

Allison Brant, 32, resigned last week as principal of St. Mary of the Woods Elementary School in Whitesville.

She's accused of rape and sodomy of a 15-year-old boy.

In a separate case, she's also facing charges of providing alcohol to minors.

Investigators said they believe Brant had an eight week affair with a 15-year-old, but that's not all.

"Two different complaints at two different times involving two different agencies," KSP Trooper Corey King said.

Trooper King said state police charged Brant with rape and sodomy, but in a separate investigation, the Daviess County Sheriff's office also charged Brant with four counts of supplying alcohol to a minor.

The Daviess County Sheriff's office said the alcohol charges against Brant involve four different young men.

"When an allegation of this magnitude comes to us it's startling," Father Michael Clark with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Owensboro said. "That's one sentiment that I would have. It's disheartening as well."

Father Clark said Brant had a spotless record in her nine years at the school.

"She has a pretty good track record, so it's surprising these allegations have come forward at this point," Clark said. "There was no indication of anything prior."

Community members in Whitesville are still trying to cope with the arrest of former St. Mary's Elementary School Principal Allison Brant.

Community members say they're shocked and even some say they're enraged about Brant's arrest.

Locals say it's hard to believe something like this could happen in their community.

Brant has been charged with rape and sodomy after Kentucky state police say she had an eight week affair with a fifteen year old boy.

The Daviess County Sheriff's Department also charged Brant with giving alcohol to four minors between the ages of 16 and 18.

Residents say the charges are tough to believe.

Brant is being held at the Daviess County detention center on $40,000 bond.
