OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) - Owensboro got its first shipment of the H1N1 vaccination Tuesday.
The Green River Area Health Department said it now has 5,000 vaccinations.
Most are the nasal form, and for now the health department said it's focusing on college students.
Health officials said college-aged people have been hospitalized for the virus more than any other age group.
Health officials said more vaccinations are on the way.
"With our initial shipment of the vaccine, we obviously don't have enough for the entire population so that's why we said we knew we were going to get a small amount of the vaccine so the public shouldn't look to public clinics until early November at the earliest," Janie Cambron with the Green River Area Health Department said.
Once the next shipment of vaccinations arrive, health officials said health care workers and school-aged children will be next on the priority list.
