What are the hottest toys this year?

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - There are 29 shopping days until Christmas and already stores are selling out of what's being called the number one toy this year.

This is the year of the Zhu Zhu Pets.

So what is a Zhu Zhu Pet?

It's a battery-operated hamsters that will run in a tube, sold separately of course.

Experts say they are very hot and very hard to find.

If you do find one, they sell for around $8.

We did find a few more of this year's top toys.

We shopped Target and Wal-Mart to check out prices.

According to www.besttoyguide.com, lots of kids will be asking for the Nintendo DSI.

Prices only varied by a few cents, Target's price was $169.99, Walmart's $169.

The Bakugan 7-in-1 Maxus Dragonoid is also making shopping lists.

Target's price was $39.99, Wal-Mart has it on sale online for $33.00.

When it comes to the tweens and teens on your list, it's all about "Twilight" and "New Moon".

You can buy the board game at both Target and Wal-Mart for $10.

The "Twilight" movie will cost you $19.99 at Target and $16.32 at Wal-Mart.

Although you might find better deals on some of your favorite things on Black Friday, store employees say the earlier you shop, the more luck you'll have finding what you need.

"If you see it, I would buy it," Target Manager Neil Crowley said. "Don't wait for it to go on sale. If we have it, and it's one of the hot toys, you need to grab it. It may cost a couple bucks more when you buy it at the store because it could go on sale, but if it does, it won't last long."
