EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - Another heat wave starts up this weekend and early next week we could see temperatures reach 100 degrees.

Vectren officials say there's been huge increase in energy usage this month and with August being typically the hottest month of the year.

Vectren is reminding customers to conserve to save electricity and money.

"We recommend and the Department of Energy recommends you go no lower than 78-degrees," Vectren spokesperson Chase Kelley said. "Often times, that may be a little bit of a sacrifice for people but again, over 50% of your bill is going toward your air conditioner. Do want you can to dial it up."

For every degree you turn up your thermostat, keep it there for an 8-hour period.

Vectren says you can save one to three percent on your utility bill.
