EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)- Many people will be ringing in 2009 with family and friends.
To make sure the New Year's celebrations end safely, River City Yellow Cab and Woods and Woods are offering free cab rides.
"Hopefully people get in the habit, if they are drinking, to take a cab," a spokesperson from Wood and Woods said. "Maybe it'll save them a trip to jail and save their life."
From 11 p.m. on New Year's Eve to 3:30 a.m. January 1, anyone who calls the River City Yellow Cab Company and mentions Woods and Woods, will receive a free ride home.
River City Cab says New Year's Eve is their busiest night of the year.
They say they recieve as many as 2,000 phone calls.
That's why every car in their fleet will be out Wednesday night.
"It's better than getting a ticket and going to jail, getting hurt or hurting somebody. It's better to just take a cab home," Dale Hall from River City told 14 News.
Before heading to any New Year's celebration, make sure to have a safe way to get home.
